I would have to say it's 4th of July. Is FAvorite holiday with our tradition of seeing fireworks
We were married this day and we always see a firework show.
It's nice cause all family friends usually remember so we all celebrate together.

My favorite holdiay tradition is getting out the ornaments to put on the tree. I am fortunate enough to have been given the ornaments that belonged to both sets of my grandparents. Some of them are very old and handmade. We love to take turns putting them on the tree and telling the stories about them, and remembering the good times of the Christmas' past. It keeps those who aren't with us any longer alive in spirit, and teaches our children about those they were never able to meet.

As I think about this, I can't wait to get out those ornaments!

When my girls were younger we would wrap up 24 different Christmas Story books on Thanksgiving weekend and place them in a basket. Starting Dec 1st through the 24th, one of the girls would pick a book to unwrap and that would be that night's bedtime ritual. Since my girls are now "grownup" in their minds (high school and middle school) they have decided that they are too old and busy for this tradition, but assure me that when they have children the tradition will continue.

My favorite holiday tradition, and this is very silly but we love it, is going to Walgreens on Christmas Day. It always ends up that my mom forgot something she needed for whatever it was she was making to take over to our family gathering and so either my dad or I have to make a Walgreens run. Glad the store is open on Christmas Day!

Although we are all grown ups with our own families and traditions every year my brother and I and our respective families go to my parents place and help them decorate their tree. It's always a nice evening of family time without the usual distractions and is a great way to kick off the holiday season!

My favorite holiday tradition is I have Christmas Eve dinner for my side of the family and then I have Christmas Day dinner for my DH's side of the family. We started this tradition 5 years ago when I had my DD because we did not want to run from house to house. It is a lot of work, but I love having everyone over to my house to celebrate the holiday with us. We have lots of food and laughs.

My favourite christmas tradition is the 12 days of Christmas. Depending on the year or where we lived it worked in 2 different ways. When we were new to the area we would decorate a basket and fill it with christmas goodies both homemade and store bought we would also include a big Red Bow. In the basket was a note "Please enjoy these special treats then refill the basket including a Red Bow to pass alone to a neighbour. Please hang the Red Bow on your door so that others can see that you have already reiceved your christmas treats." Then on Christmas eve we would drive around our neighbour hood to see all the red bows. Other times we would chose a neighbour and leave treats for them for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. It really brought the true meaning of Christmas to my live as a child and I continue this tradition as much as possible with my family regardless of how little we might have for Christmas and Christ is about Giving!

My favorite holiday tradition growing up was putting all the presents from Santa on top of your bed (made up of course) so that when the grandparents came over on Christmas Day they could go from room to room and see what Santa brought everyone.

My favorite holiday tradition is waking up to the smell of Christmas morning breakfast and sharing it with my family :O)

Ah, sweet holiday's. Could it get any better than great food and great company. I loved the tradition I had of getting up New Year's Day meeting friends for a frigid, icy mountain bike ride in the foothills of Colorado. And thanksgiving dinner never tasted so sweet like the year we served food to the homeless of our city. The greatest memories of holidays though, is loving and being loved by family and friends.

We have so many but my favorite has got to be pictures with Santa. It does not matter that my kids are now 26 and 22! I mean a tradition is a tradition. It should not stop just because one child is 6'2" and 300 pounds or the other is almost at the age where she should be bringing children of her own to do this! BUt, I have conceded to not dragging them to the mall anymore. Instead I bought a Santa suit for my husband and we take the pictures at home! Last year, however, they surprised me with photos with the mall Santa. They know how much it means to me and they did it on their own! I have an entire album of layouts of these photos.

My favorite holiday tradition is our Christmas Eve party. Every years since I was a little girl my mother would invite family and friends over for Christmas Eve. We would spend days preparing and making all kinds of Christmas treats and snacks. We still continue this tradition to this very day. I love the time spent with our family and friends on this special occasion.

My favorite Christmas Tradition is waking my sister up with, "Wake Up! Wake Up! It's Christmas!!!! Santa's been here!!!!" It was how I would wake her as kids and now that we're in our (ahem) 40's, she still finds it funny that I call Christmas Morning and scream into the phone!

To be honest with you my favorite tradition is being around the ones I love and telling each other how much we love and cherish each other. However with recent passings in my family I feel as though I don't need to wait for a Holiday to do so. I feel like every day I have something to be thankful for, and that my life and the ones around me are a gift. Thank you for this amazing giveaway, and I apologize if my answer isn't exactly what you were looking for. My email address is jacquelyn831@gmail.com

I love to make gingerbread together with my daughter before christmas. Thanks for the chance to win. Pick me, pick me, I so want to ROCK.

My favorite tradition is one I created with my husband after we had our first child. We wanted to focus on Christmas as a family time and so we work every year on a gingerbread house. But it isn't just houses that we all do together, we make our own gingerbread so we are not limited to kits, and we have made a castle (complete with a dragon and all my royal children), a train, several houses, and a nativity (with sheep, camels, donkeys and people involved). I am not sure what we are trying for this year, but it is a lot of fun to see what each child contributes to the idea.

My favoriate holiday tradition is writing out Christmas cards. I try to get the photo I plan to use in November, and start card writing in early December so I don't feel rushed. I love sending updates and hearing back from folks who I don't get to see very often.

When I was a kid, we'd line up in the hallway, youngest first, oldest last, and wait for Mom and Dad to turn the Christmas tree lights on, the music, and they'd get their coffee. Then I'd close my eyes and my sister would direct me where to go in the living room to see my gifts from Santa. We'd all pick a part of the sofa or a chair and pin our Christmas list to it on Christmas Eve so Santa knew who wants what and where to leave it. Our presents to and from each other were always under the tree. One of my brothers and my sister did their kids. I'm doing it with mine. Even though she's an only child, she still has to wait in the hall until we tell her she can come into the living room. :)

I love to make home made cookies and candies and give them as gifts to my friends. My friends all say this is their favoriate gift every year and they so much look foward to it.

When we were little kids, my parents took a photo of us on the stairs at Christmas. About 5 years ago, we started taking a picture with all of us lined up the same way we were when we were little. Now, we've started including our significant others and even the grandkids in the photos. They are fun to look back on now.

Our favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree Thanksgiving evening after we get home from dinner with family. Our adult children are home and they help decorate the tree and we laugh and have fun. Remembering where each ornament came from.(we buy an ornament each year on vacation) It's the most relaxed and enjoyed part of our holiday.

wow, looks like they had a great time.

We have always done "Christmas Morning" Christmas Eve night. When we were little it was because Mom had to work Christmas, so she told us that Santa came early for us. Now that most of the grandkids are grown, every year Mom (their granny) hides their gifts and they have to find them. They start looking when they first come in the door. It's a lot of fun.

Samantha said...

I have 2 favourites! The day mom nakes the Christmas cake and the first day we start to play Christmas carols- our decoration day! We start the morning with the same Christmas album every year and listen to the cds in "our" traditional order as we decorate the tree and the house!

Christmas family dinner is one of my favourite traditions. It doesn't happen at the same person's house, and for a variety of reasons, not always the same people are there, but there is always a family dinner and I love it. I also love the day we buy the tree and get the decorations out.

My favorite Christmas tradition started when my daughters were very young (they are now 23 and 21). As many families do, we would let them open one Christmas present on Christmas Eve....it was always pajamas. But now that they have moved away and started their own families, each Christmas Eve, we all still get together and they still get to open one present but since they no longer wake up in my house, they do not get pajamas, they get an ornament each year to add to their collection for their trees. The ornament usually represents something significant to what events happened that year. They each look forward to opening that one present each year, although my 21yo still wants pajamas and will often come to my house the week before Christmas to stay and tell me she is living there again so she can have her pajamas.

Our family follows the tradition of hiding a pickle ornament in the tree for the little ones to find and the lucky little one who finds it, gets an extra gift.

I would LOVE to be one of your lucky winners - these kits look fabulous! And I would dearly love to use one of the i-rock tools. Thanks for your generous giveaway. Our favorite family tradition is cookie baking day, when all the ladies (and a few gents) of the family (cousins, aunts, mothers, daughters, sisters, etc.) get together or a full day of baking and frosting, giggles and belly laughs, chatting and snacking, and most of all hugs and smiles!

We started a few new traditions with our own little crew with the birth of our first daughter. The kiddos always open their new Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve, scurry to put them on, head outside to sprinkle reindeer food for Rudolph and friends (we make this on Christmas Eve), hurry back inside to fix the coffee pot for Santa along with his cookies and then read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas just before tucking them into bed. Once all of the gifts are opened on Christmas morning, we make pancakes using "Mrs. Claus' Pancake Mix" that she always sends by Santa!!!

For 3 years now I've had my MOPS steering team over (the ladies who plan and run our Mother's of Preschoolers group)for a Christmas party. We wear our PJ's, do an appetizer and dessert pot luck and drink apple cider and wine. We have such a great time!

My husband is Norwegian and they celebrate on the 24th while I am an American so we celebrate the morning of the 25th. Norwegians only give one present and their stockings so we do that on the 24th and then on the 25th have a lots of presents from Santa.

My favorite holiday tradition is picking out one ornament every December 1st. They all mean so much when you're just picking out one per year!

My favorite holiday tradition is opening up one present on Christmas Eve right before bed. My mom started this with us when we were younger, and although she's no longer with us, and we are adults, it has stuck. As a kid I loved the excitement of having to choose that ONE present you just can't wait to open, and then having to actually wait until Christmas morning to play with it.

My favorite holiday tradition is, and has been, making cookies with my children, and now my grandchildren. Watching those sweet little faces really enjoy "helping" make the cookies is my favorite part. The precious photos of those messy little hands, faces, aprons, table and floor are worth every bit of the clean-up; because the photos capture moments of all our fun together. Just thinking about it makes me ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas to hurry up and get here!

I live in the Netherlands, so my favorite holiday is definitely Sinterklaas. Sinterklaas is a very Dutch celebration, he arrives always the second weekend of november with his steamboat from Spain, which the kids really believe he does, lol. It's already a celebration for them to watch him arrive and his helping mates the "Zwarte Pieten" doing funny things and giving special Sinterklaas candy. The same evening the kids can put their shoe next to the fireplace or door and maybe they find something the next morning, but don't forget to put some sugar, bread and water for Sinterklaas' horse "Americo". On december 5th he will maybe come to your house, and put a big bag with toys in front of your door.

Our favourite tradition at Christmas is that each of us have to select one present that we will give to charity, now obviously they are unopened and you never know what you are giving up but my kids love this idea and we have done it now for about 20 years and they never complain have only ever queued up to go deliver the presents to a local hospital.
