Click it with Cricut - Spotlight on Easter!

Whether you celebrate Easter or not there is no denying that most of us enjoy time with our loved ones and indulging in a piece of chocolate or two... perhaps even more but we won't go there! So this brings us to todays theme of all things 'Easter' inspired by combining non-Easter related products. Yes, you read that right, we asked our talented duo of Rhonda and Shemaine to conjure up Easter projects without a single scrap of bunny printed paper or Easter theme Cricut cartridge in sight! Let's see how they went...

Hi all, it's Rhonda and I'm going to show you how to create two Easter cards by using non-Easter product. Our latest release, Little Cutie has the perfect Easter colors and I just couldn't resist creating a traditional themed card.  Ironically, this card was found on the "Winter Woodlands" Cricut Cartridge.  That's what is so wonderful about Cricut cartridges, they never cease to surprise you with their extreme versatility!

I loved using my Cuttlebug embossing folders on this project to give some more texture and dimension.

To create the “Hop” the Bunny Card:
• Using Cricut cartridge Winter Woodlands, cut 1 < Rabbit Card > at 5 ½ inches, 1 < Rabbit Card > layer at 5 ½ inches, 1 < Rabbit > at 5 inches, 1 < Rabbit-s > at 5 inches, 1 < Rabbit – Layers > at 5 ½ inches.
• Ink edges with distress ink (Worn Lipstick, Yellow Mustard, Weathered Wood).
• Emboss blue card liner with Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls folder.
• Emboss rabbit-s parts with Cuttlebug D’vine Swirl folder, attach layers (eyes and nose).
• Adhere embossed liner to interior of card.
• Adhere 5 inch Rabbit to card.
• Using foam dots, attach Rabbit contrast pieces.
• Add chipboard flower to Rabbit’s tail.
• Trim banner from pattern paper, attach as shown adding bows to ends.
• Add crinkle ribbon or other ribbon bow as desired at Rabbits chin.

Supplies:
- Cricut cartridge "Winter Woodlands"
- Imaginisce “Little Cutie – Girl”, “Sweet Baby”, “Beyond Precious”, Chipboard Stickers, “Daddy’s Little Girl”
- Imaginisce “Garden Party”, “Row of Posies"
- Yellow Cardstock
- Black Cardstock
- Folk Art Pink Paint
- Glue Arts 3D Combo Pac
- Ribbon, Hug Snug
- String, J & P Coates Pearl Cotton
- Distress Ink, “Mustard Seed”

As a Mom of two little boys, I've definitely learned to appreciate the passion for which they express happiness for dinosaurs, cars and anything loud or fast!  I thought it would be fun to create a dinosaur egg card using the Dino Roar collection.  This card was a total experiment and you know I've got to make another for my little guy next.

To create the “Dino Happy Easter” Shaped Card:
• Using Cricut cartridge Create a Critter, cut 1 < Shell > at 6 inches
• Using Cricut cartridge Doodlecharms, cut 1 < Egg > at 6 ½ inches
• Using Cricut cartridge Wild Card, cut 1 < Giftbox - Phrase > at 3 ½ inches (Easter)
• Using Cricut cartridge Beyond Birthdays, cut 1 < HappyDay > at 2 ¾ inches (Happy)
• Ink edges of your cut pieces with respective distress inks.
• Machine or faux stitch around egg pieces as desired.  (Optional)
• Cut piece of burlap to fit width of bottom of Shell, approximately 1” high, fringe, then trim along the crack shape carefully.
• Using 3 in 1 liquid glue, attach burlap to back of paper.  Set aside to dry.
• Cover one 22 mm i-top brad and two 16 mm i-top brads with coordinating circles from Primordial Ooze paper.
• Add Stickles to Happy and Easter cut sentiments, let dry.
• Attach the top of Shell at an angle to your Egg using Glue Glider Pro.
• Use Xyron for “Happy”, attach to card, use mini foam dots for “Easter” word.
• Attach 16 mm i-top brads, one on top and one on bottom of card.
• Using i-Rock, attach green or yellow crystals.
• Add foam dots to back of Shell bottom, attach carefully to create egg.
• Cut chipboard dinosaur tail so you can extend out of the card if desired.
• Create loose bow with seam binding ribbon, pierce and secure large brad through loops.
• Determine location for 22mm i-top brad, then pierce and attach as shown.
• Attach chipboard dinosaur and “Rawr” sentiment.  I used foam dots for the Rawr chipboard
• Arrange Metal Silver Tears to create a little “Dino Drool”.

Supplies:
- Cricut cartridges "Create a Critter", “Wild Card”, “Beyond Birthdays”, “
- Imaginisce “Dino Roar”, “Primordial Ooze”, “Petrified Wood”, Chipboard Stickers, “Prehistoric Pals”
- i-Top Brads, 1 – 22 mm, 2 – 16 mm
- i-Top

- Distress Ink:  “Shabby Shutters”, “Dried Marigold”
- Ranger Stickles, “Tropical Tangerine”

- String, J & P Coates Pearl Cotton
- Foam Dots
- Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro
- Xyron
- Beacon 3 in 1 craft glue
- Sewing Machine, Thread (optional)
- White journaling pen for faux stitch marks if desired

  • Assemble chick using Glue Art 3D Adhesive squares and layer the egg with the glitter paper on top.

We hope Rhonda and Shemaine have filled you with loads of inspiration to help you on your way to creating fabulous Easter projects or perhaps another themed project using non-themed products.

Now, we'd love to be giving away a big basket full of chocolate but that wouldn't be a good thing to have sitting around the Imaginisce office... way too tempting! So we have something just as scrummy yet far less fattening:
CUTTLEBUG MACHINE
AND A HUGE BUNDLE
OF EMBOSSING FOLDERS
If you would love to get your hands on this fabulous prize then here's what you need to do:
- Leave a comment on today's post telling us what you loved about Rhonda and Shemaine's Easter projects.
- Head over to the Imginisce facebook page HERE and finish this sentence 'Imaginisce and Cricut are perfect together because...'
That's all you have to do!

Winner will be announced on Saturday.

I loved how non-traditional your Easter cards were and how many unique features each one of them had!
I find myself sometimes getting into 'funks' when working on cards and scrapbook pages - some of these cards have ideas that I might fly with! Thanks a bunch!!

Tried to add Cricut on Facebook but I am getting a message that they already have too many friends, request denied. How can we be in the running if this is the case?

I love Rhonda's & Shemaine's Easter projects because they have been so imaginative with their creations, just brilliant!

Apologies... we have now changed the details so that you can just post on the Imaginisce facebook fan page. Thanks :)

I thought the Dino Easter Egg was definitely cool. Even though my "children" are 23 and 25, I think this would be cool for them - and something they'd expect from their crazy mom ! I also like the way Rhonda and Shemaine showed us that you're not limited by what the cartridge has on it - they are more versatile than I imagined.

I love how Shemaine tied both projects together by using the same paper for both projects. I love how Rhonda used a dinosaur, which is more practical when you have boys, instead of a chick. Great Job Girls!!!
