i-Space, a little look into Kim's space

Hi everyone!  It's my turn to share with you my creative space!  First a little background for you.  About 3 years ago, we did a remodel and added on a rec room to the front of our home.  We live in a rambler style home with everything on one level.  When the architect was here for our first meeting, he explained that it would require a new roof line, and that we could possibly add an attic space for no extra work.  We talked about storage and having one of those pull down staircases for access.  I was thrilled to finally have some additional storage in my home and was very excited to see the plans.

You can imagine my surprise when 2 weeks later, he returned with plans that included at 15x12 open loft space!  My husband had called him and inquired about the possibility of using that attic space as an open art loft!  (I just love that guy!) So my daughter and I now have an art loft complete with fabulous lighting thanks to some sweet skylights! It overlooks that dining room and is completely open to the rest of the house.  I still feel part of the goings on when I'm up their creating!

It didn't take long to create a very full and cluttered room --- I'm not sure where I was keeping all this stuff before!  I thought about completely cleaning it up and making it all pretty before I took the pictures, but opted for the real thing!  This is where I create surrounded by my own little bit of controlled chaos.  Still looking for more storage space!  So here you go, a little tour of my creative space:

As you walk up the stairs from the dining room - my husband and puppy dog join me up here often, hence the need for the sofa and pillows:

This wall contains an art desk which is stand up height - a hook wall for all my embellishments, containers for my paper sorted by color, an old suitcase full of empherma, a wall unit for all my pens, stamps, ink, scissors, etc, a shelf for my old cameras, hanging packets full of misc tags & such, and an old wine rack for my vinyl:

Closeup of my desk - love the little shelf for my sewing machine which makes it so easy to use:

My daughter's painting supplies & canvases:

More clutter including a shelf that holds my buttons, cards, and punches and a dry erase board where my kiddos leave me love notes:

Well, there you have it!  It is my favorite spot in the house and I am forever grateful for that little surprise!
Happy Scrappin!
