1 Good Turn
I am so happy to share a new layout here on the Imaginisce blog today! We are continuing on with sharing loads of inspiration with the Par-r-rty Me Hearty collection and I am loving that the DT is showing so many unique was to use the collection!
We are talking about Random Acts of Kindness this week, so I thought I would share this little story with you all. My husband, our youngest son and I made a big move this past summer. Our neighbours directly across the street have been so welcoming to us; showing us the ropes around the neighbourhood and we have even enjoyed a couple of evenings in each other's homes. They know my husband is out of town during the week, so they phone over a few times a week to check on our son and I, although they don't really let on that is what they are doing ;). Then when we got into the snowy season, the gentleman started showing up with his plow! I return the favour by baking for them. It is not much but it shows our appreciation. We are so lucky to have found such great neighbours! I wonder what he will say when he finds out I scrapbooked about him!
I began my page by layering the photos onto layers of patterned papers, then I stitched on the subtitle using the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy stitching template (you can find a tutorial on my blog here to see how to use this template to create other words than the words that are actually on the template). Finally, I added the main title using the Par-r-rty Me Hearty Thickers.
Once I knew where this focal area was going to sit on my page, I added some Gesso to the background before adding in some light icy blue water colour paints. Once that was dry I flicked on some darker blue water colour paint.
For my embellishing I used some cute charms and puffy stickers. I also stamped and coloured this compass and fussy cut it out to adorn my page.
Next I added some strips of paper along the top and finished the page with my journalling. I really love the look of these torn and aged paper die cuts, and they allow for lots of space to journal. I use a fine tip Sharpie to journal, as these die cuts are slightly slick and I am impatient about waiting for regular ink to dry so I inevitably smudge it. The Sharpie eliminates the drying time!
