And a few of our design team members have been creating some fun little projects. Today Melissa shares a fabulous set of cards.
Hello everyone,
There is a trend going on in my neck of the woods and they call it a random act of kindness or pay it forward. It’s when someone pays for a coffee or item for the person behind them in line. I’ve been on the giving end of this and it is the best feeling. Knowing that what I just decided to do might have brightened someones' day is enough to keep me going!
Today, I thought I would showcase how cards can be another way to do a random act of kindness. Everyone loves a handmade card! And it doesn’t have to be any kind of special occasion. I think a simple “thinking of you” card is the perfect way to brighten someones’ day. I know that when I check my mailbox and see that handwritten envelope from someone, I get all kinds of happy!
The first card I’m sharing is a simple “thinking of you” card. Utilizing the cut outs from the Parrrty Me Hearty collection, I wanted to make it as cute and fun as possible.
I love using cut outs that might have been meant for journaling, as a backdrop for cards. Usually, there is a cluster or graphic, of some sort, that helps with eliminating a ton of embellishments.
I did add a puffy sticker within the lovely little flower/seashell cluster to create some dimension. Isn’t it the perfect touch? And so easy!
I also love creating interesting title work. For this card, I created a wave that mimicked the ocean/mermaid theme of this collection.
The second card was inspired by one of the cut out tags with the phrase “hugs sand kisses”. This is one of those cards that you can send to someone you feel like reminding how much you care about them. Like a daughter or sister or aunt or close friend. The list goes on! For this card I, again, used lots of pieces from one of the cut out sheets.
The triangles create an interesting pattern. I love how the larger patterns are shrunk down on the triangles which look really nice on the card. Also, adding some drawn stitching, gives the card a neat look. I think it helps to make the triangles look grounded on the card and not floating.
I am a fan of clusters and figuring out ways to add some simple dimension to cards. The stickers and puffy stickers are so fun to layer and all the colors work so well together.
As you can see, this collection continues to be a great one for so many different occasions! And now, you can think about some cards you might whip together as a way to send someone a random act of kindness.
Thanks for coming by today!
