Guest Designer - Nicole Mantooth

Joining us again today is our September Guest Designer, 

Nicole Mantooth.

Last Friday we introduced Nicole and shared some of her beautiful work here on the blog. Today she has some more exciting projects to share with us today so let's take a look.


"Bundle of Joy" card

For this project I only had the buttons and dimensional stickers.  

I used the product packaging from the dimensional stickers to create this card.  

I took the light blue packaging and cut it down and rounded the edges. I put them down on the card base leaving a little gap to show some of the card through. I used some white twine to create what looks like hoops from a bow and glued down a button on top of each one.  

I took a piece of white cardstock and embossed it with dots.  I then added a dimensional sticker to the bottom row of buttons.  

I added some tiny silver dots on the buttons and dimensional sticker and my card was done.  It really came together fas:t and even though I did not have any of the papers that came in this line I was still able to make it look like I did, by using the packaging from a product.  

Sometimes you just have to think outside the box and use what you have on hand.

"Daddy's Little Princess"

This layout was a lot of fun to create.  One of my all time favorites for sure. 

 

I created this layout using the little princess line. 

I started with cutting random stars all over my white cardstock.  After that I backed it with vellum and attached that to another piece of white cardstock.  I wanted the look of white on white, but I thought the vellum really gave it a little more visual likeness.  To me it softened the stars just enough to make them noticeable but not stand out to much. 

 

I then cut some film strips out of the same white cardstock as my stars are cut from. 

I die cut the title princess from the lavender polka dot side of CASTLE FRIENDS patterned paper.  I then cut the same princess title and the words daddys princess from light grey cardstock. 

 

I then took the ONCE UPON A TIME patterned paper and hand cut out the tiny castle. 

I printed out some pictures of my husband and my daughter from the time she was born, her first birthday and a few from this past year.  They have a bond like no other, and I really wanted to capture that in this layout, because no matter what she will always be his little princess.  I filled some of the openings in the film strip with those pictures and the rest of the openings I filled with pieces from the ONCE UPON A TIME patterned paper. 

I took one of the dark haired princesses from the LITTLE PRINCESSES CARDSTOCK DIE CUTS and laid that over one of the openings to give it one more layer without adding bulk. 

Once everything was put together and die cut I started to assemble my layout.  I backed my film strips with foam adhesive so that it would stand up just a little against the stars, but still again didn’t add too much bulk and heaviness to the layout. I took a strip of LITTLE PRINCESS patterned paper and cut a notch in the end and laid that down flat above the film strip.  I then took another strip from the bottom bar code strip of one and added that to the notched strip.  I added a little silver twine, tied a silver bow to it and added a little dot of glue to the back to help hold it in place. 

 

I took my two princess titles and attached the lavender polka dot one to the top of the light grey one and slightly off setting them so it looks as though it has a small shadow.  I then attached that above the notched paper strip and attached daddys little above that.  I took my handcut castle and attached that next to my title. 

 

I printed my journaling on some vellum and cut that down to size, rounded the corners of that and stamped a saying on the very bottom.  I added a small line of liquid adhesive to the very top of the vellum and tucked it under the bottom film strip. 

 

Next I cut several stars, in different sizes the front side of the CASTLE FRIENDS patterned paper using my SILHOUETTE CAMEO.  I randomly placed those stars all over my layout. I also had some silver paper on hand I cut a few stars from as well and added those to my layout too. 

 

I took a PLASTIC BUTTON that matched this line and tied some of the same silver twine through it and attached that to one of the stars with some liquid adhesive.  

This layout was fun to create, I wanted a magical feel to it and that is just what I feel like I got.

Nicole Mantooth

Hello, my name is Nicole Mantooth.  I live in Hesperia, CA with my husband of 15 years and our 3 kiddos.  Little Jacob is 9, Caleb is 7 and Chloe is 4.  We have 2 dogs and 7 new puppies, a cat and 3 little kittens, a turtle also named Jacob and a bunny.  We have our own little family zoo. I am mostly a stay at home mom, but I do some photography on the side and I love creating handmade custom things for my etsy shop.    I have been scrapbooking for so many years, I don't even remember when I actually started.  I have always loved to create crafty things and it just sort of evolved into my love of scrapbooking and documenting. When I first started I mainly did just layouts, but over time as my style has evolved I also love making cards and other little crafty projects I can think of. I enjoy baking my boys teachers some yummy treats and finding fun and creative ways to send it to them at school.  I love to try to push my creative side and think outside the box and try to use what I have on hand instead of rushing out to buy all the new products and paper lines because boy could that get me into tons of trouble.  My husband really encourages me to put myself out there in both my photography career and with all my creative adventures.  Thank goodness he is so supportive because sometimes my creative side takes over the entire house, including the kitchen counters and table.  I love spending family time together and documenting our lives along the way.  I love to share our lives on social media especially facebook and instagram. I am currently on the SILHOUETTE AMERICA design team and I am grateful to be a guest here with you as well.

"Tiny Fingers"

This layout was created with the MY BABY GIRL LINE. 

I started with cutting out the saying from my SILHOUETTE CAMEO on the white cardstock.  I then backed it with kraft color cardstock, but backed the CUTE and SWEET words with pink cardstock. 

 

I took the BANNERS PATTERNED PAPER and cut out the banners for a die cut look.  

I then took the MY BABY GIRL DOUBLE-SIDED CARDSTOCK 12"X12"CUT-OUTS patterned paper and cut out the sweet baby and little moments cards.

Something fun I like to do sometimes is take the tiny strips on the bottom of each patterned paper and use the back side with the design on my layout.  It just looks like you cut a small strip from a large sheet, saves from tossing it.  Using up all those small things you would normally throw out.  

I took the other side of the CUT OUTS paper and laid it down with the die cut title page to create a full 12x12 page.  

I laid my photo collage on top and tucked under a JOURNALING card that I printed my journaling on.  

I had some wood hearts on hand that I colored with a copic marker and added those with some pearls and silver dots to my page.  I just placed those randomly all over my layout.  

I saw this saying in my SILHOUETTE STUDIO SOFTWARE and knew that I had to use it on a layout since my niece is named Bria Rose.  My sister in law posts monthly update photos of her and I love seeing how much she changes from one month to the next.

Banner

This was a fun little name banner I made for a friends daughter.  Her new baby has the same name as my daughter. I have been wanting to make her some kind of fun little personalized gift for her and as soon as I saw these journaling cards I knew I could make her something so fun with these.  

I used the MY BABY GIRL line for this little banner project.  

I took 5 different cards and stacked them all on top of each other and punched holes on each side of the top.  

I cut her name out in kraft cardstock and pop dotted them to the top of each card.  

I used smal pieces of some of the patterned papers in the line to make flags and little tags.  I even created a super tiny accordian rosette to add next to the H.  

I used the bottom backside strip of the paper from one of the patterened papers again to make a little tag for under the L.  

I used one of my sewing needles and attatched a little notched flag I made and stamped the word hello onto. 

I sprinkled  die cut hearts that I cut from the opposite side of the BANNERS patterned paper. 

I added some random hearts and pearls to the JOURNALING cards before I attached them all together.  

I then took some twine I had on hand and tied each card together.  I tied a bow on each one.  

I can't wait to give it to her for her new precious baby girl.  

I love that I can products that are "made" for one thing and use them for another.  These journaling cards made the perfect base for my little name banner.

Purses

Kelly Wayment here, back with two more projects I made with the “Little Princess” collection.  I truly love paper.  I must confess that sometimes I skip the embellishments altogether, just because I can make something really great with just paper.

I used my Silhouette CAMEO and the “Little Princess” papers, paired with AC textured cardstock, to create two little purses for my daughters.  I love the mix of girly papers, along with stripes, dots, and other versatile designs in the pattern papers.

This first purple purse uses a Silhouette cutting file called circle purse, and I chose polka dots from the 12x12 pattern papers to go with the purple cardstock.  The center strap uses another subtle pink pattern paper from the collection.

You can see in this detail shot that I accented parts of the purse with pink adhesive gems, although I still used brads for the strap.

This second purse is also from a Silhouette cutting file called barrel purse.  Again, I used pink AC cardstock and paired it this time with stripes from the pattern papers in the collection.  I found some American Crafts pink brads that worked beautifully with the color scheme.  

My daughters have had a great time playing with their purses that actually open and can hold (lightweight) treasures.

Here's a little background on Kelly.

Hi!  I’m Kelly Wayment, (a.k.a. krafting kelly in blog land).  I love all things paper and have had the opportunity of serving on a couple of design teams for the past three years—currently with Silhouette America.  I started my papercrafting journey as a scrapbooker in 1999, but enjoy making cards and various other paper projects these days, especially 3D creations.  Although I would love to spend all my time with crafts, I’m also a busy mom of four kids and work part-time as an accountant.  I love working with the charming Imaginisce papers and their matching embellishments!

Tissue Box

I enjoy making tissue box covers for my kids’ school teachers each year, but when I saw the “Little Princess” collection, I knew I had to make a tissue box for my girls’ room!  Princesses abound in our household.  They like blue as much as pink and purple, so I used turquoise for the cardstock base and found plenty of cute dimensional stickers, buttons, and die-cut cardstock shapes in the collection to embellish it.

 

A little baker’s twine through the button holes adds a nice finishing touch.  I used a hot glue gun to firmly attach the buttons.

My girls adore their new princess tissue box, along with the other princess accessories I’ve made with this collection.  Here’s a view of each side of the tissue box cover:

Post-it Note Holder

Here’s another fun project I made with the “Little Princess” collection.  I used a simple cutting file with my Silhouette CAMEO to make this little cover for post-it notes, but instead of using the included flower as the main accent, I used this glass-slipper dimensional sticker as the focal point.  

I reduced the flower’s size in the note-holder cutting file and cut enough for multiple flowers from the pinks and blues in the collection of pattern papers.  The adhesive gems are a perfect centerpiece to each flower.

And to dress up the notes inside, I used the stamps to place a little image on each note in the stack.  My girls are pretty excited about these personalized princess notes in a cute little holder!

Guest Designer - Teri Anderson

Once again we are super excited to have Teri Anderson joining us again today with some more of her amazing and colourful cards!
Last week we enjoyed see her beautiful work and we are treated to it once again today!

Now, let's take a look at more of Teri's work.

"The collection I worked with is the Perfect Vacation collection.

This collection has such an awesome vibe to it with a great color combo, fun design elements and just a happy feel about it.

And with lots of suitcases, cameras, geotags, passports and travel sayings, it is perfect collection to use for scrapbooking adventures. But it also makes for great trendy cards. Many of the collection's elements are just really trendy and fun. Love it!"

Blue My World

I created a card from white cardstock and then adhered the blue panel onto it at an angle. To make the "You Are My World Forever" dimensional sticker a little unique, I tied on a little bit of floss to it. I think adding little touches like that just makes cards seem more special.

World Traveler

This one came together quickly. I created a card from cardstock and added a couple strips of patterned paper. Then I just added the passport die-cut and suitcase dimensional sticker. I adhered the "My World" die-cut with foam adhesive. 

And then I added a few gems and buttons. The cool thing about using items from the same collection is you don't have to stress out about mixing and matching things. Everything just goes together because it was designed to do so. I love that!

Away We Go

I thought this would be fun card to give to someone heading out or town or starting a new adventure (like a new job or  college). I love the fonts used on the "Away We Go" die-cut. To sauce it up just a bit, I added a few gems to it.

Hi! I'm Teri Anderson.

I'm contributing editor and Go-to Gal for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine. I'm also the hostess of their Moxie Fab World blog.

I began scrapboking as a teen-ager and really caught the card maker bug from a book on card making with scrapbooking supplies. Besides paper crafting, I love to spend time with my family and friends, going to the beach and taking pictures. I love going to concerts and taking part 5K & 10K runs. I'm not the fastest at them, but I just love getting out and doing them.

Now let's take a look at some of her amazing cards!

Oh Snap Card

I'm a mix and matcher when I paper craft so I mixed a lot different elements together for this card. 

To make the geotag stand out, I adhered it to card with foam adhesive. I also wanted the Oh Snap sticker to be more a little more special so I plopped a gem right in the middle of it. 

Good Times Frame Card

I took a frame die-cut that says "Snap Shots" and adhered patterned paper behind it. Then I set that Good Times die-cut right on top of it.

For the compass, I adhered a button in the middle of it and then a gem right on top.

If you decide to try this at home, my advice is to be sure you are using a really strong adhesive to hold the button in place. Make sure the adhesive has fully set to the die-cut before you mess with it.

My World Cluster

This was just a fun card to make. I took a lot of different die-cuts and dimensional stickers and paired to together. You might be wondering about that "forever" word? Yeah. That is just the bottom of the "You Are My World" die-cut. I just took my scissors and cut it up! 

Good Times Stripes

To make the patterned paper background, I cut one big piece of striped paper and then added a panel of polka dot paper to it. Before adhering it to my card, I cut it in two pieces. When I put it on the card, I allowed a bit the white cardstock to be exposed.

Buttercup Pup Layout

I took this pic of our mini dachshund last spring when he was just 7 months old and it has been sitting in my studio waiting to be worked with ..... as soon as I saw the Welcome Spring collection i knew they were a perfect match !!

I loved the soft subtle pattern on the back of the Hop To It paper - perfect for a base.  I layered the next several pieces making sure you could still see a bit of each.  They all work so well together and still let me show off this adorable puppy :)).  I raised the 5 x 7" photo using Dimensional Dots so that it really jumped off my layout.  

I ran the welcome spring journal card through my typewriter and added these fabulous yellow glitter Thickers for my title to finish it off.  I think this one will live in a frame for a while before hitting my album :))

Tri-Fold Card

It's fun to create cards every once in a while that step outisde the size box a bit.  This is a quick and easy card that gives you room to add a photo, a gift card or simply write a nice message inside.

I started with a kraft cardstock base.  The size is 5 1/2 x 12" and I scored it at 3 1/2" and 7" .....I adhered the patterned paper that I wanted on the front and insides and then punched a scalloped circle out of the front.  I added a Sticker Stacker on the inside so that it peeked through the punched shape - cute right !!

A die cut raised with Dimensional Dots and some pretty pink ribbon and this sweet card is ready to give to a special someone :))
