Out of Shape

Thinking outside of the box is never really easy to do and for most of us it is usually out of our comfort zone. Once again we've challenged our design team to be creative and create layout that was a NON-traditional shaped layout - meaning no squares, rectangles or circles.

We think that they did pretty good. What do you think?

"Tis the Season"

Supplies Used: Imaginisce Santa's Little Helper, Cottage Christmas (Snowflakes), Clear Scraps XL Deco Shape Acrylic, Bazzil Gemstones, Studio G Red & Green Glitter Glue, Offray Ribbon, American Crafts Thickers, Kanban Crafts Gold Cardstock.

Here's a few words from Cristal about her project:

"Every year I take pictures of our tree because every year we have a different theme in the home, last year's tree was a country Christmas theme and the photos were a perfect match for the Santa's Little Helper line."

"Weekend Getaway"

Supplies used: Imaginisce Postcard from Afar 12x12 Paper, Stateroom Baggage 12x12 Paper, Stamp Collection 12x12 Paper, First Class 12x12 Paper, Luggage Tags Sticker Stacker, Travel the World Chipboard Stickers, Destination Die Cuts, Foam Tape - BlackOther: Letter stickers (October Afternoon), chipboard
letters (Studio Calico), twine (The Twinery)

Robyn has a few words to share with you about her project:

"I struggled a bit with what to make for this challenge because I’ve never done a shaped layout before. But I quickly discovered that the options are virtually endless for what you can create. The Bon Voyage line, with all the luggage tags and stickers, inspired me to make a suitcase shape.

I started by cutting a 9 x 12 rectangle and rounding the corners. I cut a 4” square from the coordinating paper for the handle and rounded the top two corners. Using a craft knife, I cut the inside of the handle out and attached it to the back of the rectangle to finish off the handle. I then cut 1” strips to make the suitcase straps. Once I had finished the shape, I just created a traditional layout on top using layers of paper with embellishments and photos."

"Family is the Heart of the Home"
Supplies used: Imaginisce (Happy Harvest collection: papers, sticker stackers, Glam Rocks), Core'dinations Colorcore cardtsock, My Little Shoebox (alpha stickers), My Little Bit of Whimsy (Button), Twine (Creative Imaginations), Cricut Expression, House design is cut from the "Spring Bouquet" Cartridge

Cari also has a few words to share about her project:

"I wanted to scrapbook this picture of my family for this assignment and the perfect shape that I could think of was a house. These are the people in my life that make my home complete and it wouldn't be a home without them!
I layered punched strips of cardstock for the roof and handcut the large heart from patterned paper, sanded the edges slightly with my d-stress tool and used it for part of my title work."

We hope that you've enjoyed this "Out of Shape" way of thinking and we'd love to see your creations as you think outside the box. Feel free to share your layouts with us on our Facebook page.

  9. I love them all..but my question is this... how do they fit into your albums? Do you put plain cardstock behind so the layout behind it doesn't interfere with the look of your shaped layout?
