Shamrock Shaped Cards

St. Patrick's Day is a few days away. Do you celebrate this day and have any fun celebrations?
Our Design Team members share some fun ideas with us this week in honour of this very green day!

Hi everyone,
Melissa here with you today and I’m especially excited because I’ve got a free cut file to share! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I thought what better imagery to use than a shamrock! I’ve got two projects that I made with lots of green, beautiful Imaginisce product and, the free cut file.
First up, I made a hanging décor piece that would be perfect on the front door or even as wall decoration in the home. It was super simple to put together. I’ll walk you through a little bit of my process but, first, I’ll show you it in its full glory.

Before I go any further, I just have to share something I almost did with this. In between the words ‘I’m Irish’, I wanted to add “1/4”. My family is a sliver of Irish, 99% German, but, my mom really embraces that Irish part! I might still add it later and give it to her as a gift. It will get some good laughs, that’s for sure.
Anyway, moving on with my process – it was rather simple. I had a wooden board from Kaisercraft in my stash and I chose to give it a nice green color. After painting it, I adhered the shamrock piece cut from some patterned paper from the Parrrty Me Hearty collection. Then, I sealed it up with some Mod Podge.

After the Mod Podge dried, I embellished with the layer of flowers, a small circle punched piece of patterned paper, also from the Parrrty Me Hearty collection, and a cute little button and twine.

I then finished off the décor piece with some of the Thickers, yep, you got it from the Parrrty Me Hearty collection, to say the phrase “Kiss Me I’m Irish!”
I wasn’t quite done using this cute little shamrock and I wanted to dig into the Sunny collection, as well.  So, this time I cut out a negative of the shape into some cardstock and backed it with some patterned paper.

I chose to use some green twine and a green enamel dot to play up  the green polka dots in the patterned paper from the Sunny collection.
The sentiment is using the same Thickers from the Parrrty Me Hearty collection as was used on the wall décor piece. I ran out of room a little bit and happened to create a happy accident. You’ll notice that a couple of the letters in the word “Good” are layered. At first I wanted to move them over but, decided it looked kind of cool having that layered look.

Finally, it needed something else so I chose to do some faux stitching with my white gel pen.

And that’s a wrap! Perhaps I will gift my mom with this wall décor piece and the cute little card. How fun would that be?
You can grab the free shamrock cut file here and have fun using it with your electronic cutting machine and Imaginisce product!

Happy creating!
