Getting to Know Sara Carling

We are very excited to introduce you to one of the talented designers that creates the products you know and love, Sara Carling. We decided to ask her some questions so you can get to know her a little better!

What lines have you created for Imaginisce?
I started with Imaginisce in 2007, so I have made quite a few collections. Here's the list. :)
Which one if your favorite and why?
Gosh, just one? Right now my favorites are Twitterpated & Teacher's Pet. Twitterpated is a reflection of my style. Cute & Whimsical.

Where does your inspiration come from?
Honestly, inspiration can come from anywhere. I have two children. Kenzie is 7, and Parker is 5. I'd have to say that they inspire me the most. The movies they watch, the clothes they wear, and the little things they're into at the time.

What type of music do you listen to when designing?
Actually, I like to listen to new music every time I start a new collection. I like to keep things fresh. I listen to Last.fm to find new artists and songs. And I can't help but listen to Christmas music when designing a Holiday collection, even if I'm designing it in July.

What food gets your creative juices flowing?
I love all things sweet! Which isn't so great when you're sitting for hours and hours each day. Haha! Those Lofthouse sugar cookies with pink frosting get me in the creative mood every time.

What do you do when you’re not designing?
My kids keep me very busy. Aside from that I love traveling and taking day trips to San Francisco (which is a great place for design inspiration). I love baking, cupcakes especially. And recently I've taken up Trampoline Aerobics. It's soooo fun!

How do you get out of a creative slump?
I have to get out of the house. Jump in the car, and go somewhere new. I also find that doing something creative that's not work related will pull me out of a slump. If I come into a collection purely from a "work" standpoint it takes the fun right out. I'm soooo lucky that Imaginisce allows me so much creative freedom. Which makes my "job" more like play. I love it!

What is your favorite color?
Pink. Hands down. I have try hard not to include it in every collection, because I'm sure to find a way to make a pink Halloween collection, easy. I love color in general. The more the better.
