10 Things You Didn't Know about Liz Quaman

10 Things I bet you didn't know about me....

One - I am a Virgo.  On the bright side this means I am meticulous, reliable, practical, diligent, intelligent, analytical and loyal to a fault.  But, on the dark side this means I am fussy, overly critical, consumed with perfection, and worry too much.  You can see the implications for crafting...and how much I can drive myself and my family nuts.

Two - There are two bands I never tire of listening to when driving in the car - Journey (thank you to Glee for bringing them back in a big and bad way) and Def Leppard.  What can I say, I am a product of the 80's and a sucker for big hair bands.  Hasn't everyone seen Def Leppard in concert twice???  Good times...

Three - Speaking of Glee, my favorite episode from Season 1 is Theatricality with the music of Lady Gaga.  I can't decide if Poker Face or Bad Romance is my favorite song, but it is definitely fun to listen to Gaga when scrapbooking.  I think my pages actually get better - LOL.

Four - I live around the corner from a world renowned ski resort and since going skiing for me entails throwing on my gear and scooting to the mountain for a couple of runs.  I'm not sure I've skied an entire day since I've lived here.  Spoiled, I know.... It's a hardship when people come visit and want to ski the whole day, cuts into my scrap time if you KWIM.

Five - Before I became an educator I worked for Kraft - that's right, the Macaroni and Cheese people.  It was a good job until I got a job offer to move to Vail, Colorado, which is where I remain.  Nothing like living in the Rocky Mountains.  However, I learned a lot about sales while working for Kraft and knowing how to sell has helped me get through to the kids I teach in class.

Six - While I was working for Kraft, I had an opportunity to meet Muhammed Ali with some colleagues (he happened to be opening up a Rotisserie Chicken Chain - anyone been there?) and even though he shook hands with everyone else, I got a big huge man-sized hug!  Note to self - I've most definitely had The Greatest hug.

Seven - I detest all things that need to dry on a project, which is why I am a huge fan of stickers.  Love it when those little suckers go right on the page and voila, you are done.  Waiting for things to dry kind of defeats my impatient Virgo personality.  I also have a theory on what responsible glitter is and would be happy to share my thoughts on that one....

Eight - I have an unreasonable fear of sharks.  I realize it dates back to my 7th year when visiting my grandparents in Florida and them letting me watch the movie Jaws just prior to a day at the beach.  At the time I thought they were cool for letting me watch the scary movie.  Now that I am an adult and have kids of my own, I think they may have been fairly demented or had a bit of a mean streak.  To this date you will not catch me swimming in the ocean, cause I know there is a shark out there with my name on it (you've all seen Jaws IV: The Revenge - right).  Swimming pools are hip!

Nine - I am currently a recovering sugar addict!  As of September of 2010, I have not had a Coke.  It's been really tough, but I am a lot happier without all of the extra calories and havoc on my body.  I've done a lot of research on healthier alternatives and since I am not a coffee drinker, but definitely feel smarter on caffeine, I like to drink Zevia Cola.  It actually has more caffeine than Coke or Pepsi, but it all come from natural sources instead of the dreaded "engineered" products from larger manufacturers.  Click HERE for info on this healthier drink option.

Ten - I have a small, but amazing family.  Just my husband and our two kids.  They are such a great source of inspiration and strength in my life and I am lucky to have them.  They think I spend a lot of time crafting, so I have to find balance to make sure everyone is happy, which is why I have learned to function on about 6 hours of sleep (note the need for caffeine above).  I do most of my scrapbooking late at night or while my kids and husband take naps on the weekends.  No siestas for this busy crafter - LOL.

It is such a treat for me to be joining the Imaginisce Design Team for another year in 2011.  This is such an innovative, kind and generous group to be a part of, not to mention all of the support and encouragement we get from our friends.

Please hop over to my blog My Little Sketch Blook for a few of my favorite Imaginisce projects from 2010 and an opportunity to peruse through my sketch gallery.

Thank you so much for stopping by - Liz

I am so with you on waiting for things to dry - I can never wait for anything to dry long enough and usually end up smearing things :(

Loved hearing about your amazing hug. :-D I'm off soda altogether as of Dec 2009 (gestational diabetes) and I've stayed off. WOOHOO! You've got me wondering about your "theory on what responsible glitter"? Will be hear this on a later post? Come on! You can't just leave it like THAT, right?

mommyof5kidz said...

I have never heard of Zevia, but I will absolutely check it out! My hubby and I agreed to no longer buy sodas as one of our "resolutions". I have not wanted to let it go because I am in the same boat as you with the NEED for caffeine! LOLOL. Thanks for the tip, Liz!
