I Mustache you ....

Our Design Team have been busy creating and will be sharing some fabulous projects with you throughout the month. We gave them the opportunity to create a project of their choice, whatever theme they wanted and with whatever collection their desired to use.

Birthday Card

HELLOOOO everyone! Court from Court’s Crafts here! Here is a card-gone-wrong that turned out super right!

I had stayed up late the night before Father’s Day making cards for the three men in my life (husband, father, FIL) that would be at my house the next day… and then I did it… I got to the very end of the card, lost focus, and stamped the wrong sentiment… yep, you read it right… instead of grabbing the Father’s Day stamp, I stamped the happy birthday one. ugh. head thud. I started over on a new Father’s Day card BUT I was left with a  FABULOUS birthday card that I am now ahead on! :) whew! :)

I stitched around the edge of the card  and tried to make it super wonky. I was going for a geeky feel.

I used Top Dog Dies for the glasses, mustache, bow tie and polaroid frame. Then I remembered the little polaroid frame patterned paper in the collection and cut one out to embellish it a little. :)

I popped the frame and then wanted a more geeky feel so I *held the frame in place* with the Xyron/Teresa Collins Stapler. Now… here is where I love it/hate it. I knew before I stapled that it was going to pull the frame down since I had popped it on the back layer. I contemplated it for WAY too long and then did it anyway. I happen to love it and it’s one of those details that makes you know it’s handmade and not bought in the store. But it’s not the most finished look…. but for this card, I loved it. Just sharing a little of the “creative process” with you. :)

Lastly I added a little bling to the bow tie and popped the little cut out polaroid frame from the Vacation Line papers. Since I know this is going to my dad I didn’t have to worry about postage and could add dimension all over the place! :)

I hope you enjoyed my post for today and know that even *we* make mistakes ALL the time - make it work! Creating cards is an art form. Laugh about it and keep on crafting! :)
