BLOG SWAP Today with Silhouette (giveaway too)!!

Today we are so excited about our blog swap with Silhouette!! We've had some designers working up some darling samples for you to check out and BOTH blogs are giving away some fun items to all of you for stopping by both blogs.

Our resident Silhouette expert is our very talented, Kim Holmes. She created some fun samples with both the Apple Cider and Cottage Christmas Collections along with some fun Silhouette patterns she downloaded from their online store!

We asked Kim about why she loves her Silhouette, here's what she shared with us:
"I have had my Silhouette for over 4 years and it is my go-to tool for almost everything crafty.  Whether it’s vinyl for my walls, die-cuts for my scrapbook pages, stencils for my glass etching, or art for my children’s school projects, it is always there to help me!  Now I have even more reasons to love it.  They have just upgraded their software and it is amazingly fast and user friendly!  Everything is just one click away and the tutorials are comprehensive and easy to follow.  Their website is packed full of instructions, ideas and tutorials for making your projects perfect every time. Their blog has daily tips and techniques for getting the most out of the machine.   They are very creative and always give step by step instructions for all their posted projects.  They even include screen shots! Let’s talk about customer service.  Every time I have had a question, issue or problem, they have been there to help me with immediate, knowledgeable  and friendly advice.  With their machine, their website, their help desk and their blog, they are a complete package deal – definitely  a great bunch of people to work with."

Welcome Weekend...Last Chance to Win!!

We're wrapping up our week long blog swap with Core'dinations and that means we'll be picking winners on both blogs to announce on Monday. Scroll through the fun ideas from our design team to find out how you can add your name one last time to the giveaway! And don't forget to visit our friends at Core'dinations...their design team has been creating some amazing layouts!

Sand It!!
How fun is it that Erin Bassett used those embossing folders/plates with her Core'dinations cardstock. She then sanded it to make the pattern pop!!
Score It! Cari Locken simply scored her Core'dinations paper to the right of the scallop and then lightly sanded the edges. I think it's a quick and easy technique that helps finish off any project. Great idea!
Ink It! Erin Bassett embossed her Core'dinations cardstock with this cute dot pattern, but instead of sanding it she inked it. Fun idea! Let's not overlook the darling i-rock gems she applied to this card too (check out the new i-rock tool).

Last chance to WIN!! Leave a comment on today's blog and over at Core'dinations blog and tell us what your favorite Core'dinations or Imaginisce product is...or shower us with love!! It's easy and we're glad you hung out and played all week with us. Watch Monday for winners to be announced on both blogs!!

At the Beach with Core'dinations

We're still having a ton of fun hosting a Blog Swap with Core'dinations. They posted some darling cards on their blog yesterday. And they announced that they'd be giving away 200 sheets of Core'dinations Cardstock...in addition to the two collections we'll be shipping out to a couple of lucky winners.

Read through the rest of the post to find out how you can be entered to win a very expensive prize package from both companies. And since it SNOWED yesterday in Utah, I wanted to think of a warm, sunny place and thought we should show off some fun BEACH themed layouts.

Melinda wrote on her blog: "Now, I will be the first to admit, I haven't really had the opportunity to use Core'dinations before but I am seriously hooked now... it is amazing! The different textures, and effects you can achieve are wonderful for enhancing any layout as cardstock doesn't always have to be in the background as your backing sheet. I've used it for the main centrepiece of the layout and it made the perfect statement! And can you believe it, I even quilled some of the mini splashes with 'cardstock'!"

I've given them pearl bubbles to blend in with the coral that I fussy-cut from the Core'dinations 'Gemstones', the pic above shows off the sheen which is really pretty!
Core'dinations have a very classy new range of cardstock called 'gemstones - The Crown Jewels of Cardstock' to which I will become a very loyal follower. It has a satin like sheen to one side and comes in a beautiful range of colours that were perfectly matched to 'Splash Dance'. It was also great to roll and kept its shape.

BLOG SWAP: Let's get to the CORE with Core'dinations

We are very excited to do a BLOG SWAP this week with our friends over at Core'dinations. What happens during these blog swaps? First, you'll get TONS of ideas from our amazing design team using both Imaginisce products and Core'dinations cardstocks (scroll down). Second, make new friends...we encourage you to hop on over to Core'dinations site to find out what their designers are creating with both product lines and make some new friends. Third, FREE stuff!! Each day visit both our blogs and leave a comment to be entered to win at the end of the week (great prize packages from both companies).

Our resident expert, Cari Locken gave us some tips and ideas on using Core'dinations cardstock. By the way, Cari designs for both companies so she's probably the most familiar with both product lines...lucky us!!

Cari's Ideas:

1. I like to tear the paper to show the core color.

2. I LOVE embossing on the cardstock and sanding it.

3. You can also emboss and then ink the image - that's a cool effect too.

Cari's Layouts:
This layout I used some Core'dinations cardstock and some Cuttlebug folders. Simply emboss the patterns on the cardstock blocks and then lightly sanded them to make the designs pop!
For this layout I used some more Splash Dance Collection and Core' cardstock (tearing) and then I used the i-rock tool for the gems and white dots on the starfish eyes (which I made using the i-top tool).

Tip:
I've realized that when making cards you have to be careful when scoring it because if you press too hard you can easily tear the cardstock.

So what is Core'dinations Cardstock?
Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock has a core color which “core’dinates” with the surface color. Each sheet has a tab underneath labeled “core color” that represents the interior color of the sheet. You can choose to keep that color hidden or add your own creative touch by sanding, tearing or embossing. Here are some specifics:
  • A sandable cardstock that has a “core’dinating” core color instead of a white core
  • Heavy weight, 80 lb., premium, acid and lignin free
  • Sand, tear or antique it to reveal the beautiful core colors and add your own creative touch
  • Canvas texture on one side and smooth on the other
FREE STUFF...want to win?? Leave a comment today on our blog and then hop on over to Core'dinations site and leave a comment too. We'll be doing this all week long, so don't forget to start hopping!!

Metal Glue and Buttons with Tammy & Aida

If you're like me, you've wondered about that Tombow Mono METAL Glue...right? I assumed it was only good for metal embellishments, but apparently that's not the case.
The Metal Glue, features a super strong bond that will securely adhere metal trinkets and embellishments to paper. Safely glue photos, cardstock and small plastic adornments with glue that dries completely clear.

Here's some creative ideas from Aida and Tammy from our design team. Be sure to click through to their blogs and check the projects and their tips out in detail.
Aida created this fun tag album with tons of buttons she needed to glue down. Tammy's below created the cutest frame and she too loved how well the glue worked for her buttons!!

Click HERE for Aida's blog and HERE for Tammy's blog. And don't forget to leave us a comment on our blog and Tombow's blog for great prizes. Thanks!!

Well we asked Kim Holmes why she loved this Mono Multi Glue so much and what was the best way to use it. "It has been my adhesive of choice for almost 4 years now and even when I try something new, I always come make to my faithful bottle of mono." Read more here....
