iSpy: Vacation, B-Day, Fabric Flowers & Last Week's winners!!

Over the weekend we noticed some projects with one of our popular vacation collection, Scooter's Vacation showing up around the web. We found this darling album idea featured on 2Peas and then followed the link back to one of our favorite magazine blogs, Scrapbook and Cards Today

The album was designed by Aly Dosdall. To see more of Aly's work, be sure to visit her blog.

I also have to admit that I'm a blog-stalker for sure. And one of the blogs I love checking out on a regular basis is Jennifer Gallacher's blog. She's an amazing designer that I've admired her style and talent for many years now. I hope she doesn't mind having me feature her layout her, but it was too cute not to share.

Another cute project featuring the i-top tool and some spring fabric from Julia Sandvoss. Her post has a fun step-by-step tutorial on it for all of you! And she loved her i-top tool for this project so much that she brought us some of her cute flowers to CHA for some of us working in the booth...too cute, thanks Julia.

Now for the winners from our blog last week....

Friday Renata from out Design Team posted a great B-Day Bash Calendar Idea. So we hosted a giveaway for B-Day Bash Products. The lucky winner is: ALINE SALMON

Then earlier last week we hosted a great big i-rock giveaway and many of you hoping to win participated in the fun. WE loved reading through all your comments about what you would bling out if you had an i-rock. Thanks to random.org we were able to select a winner and her response still has us giggling! The winner is: AVA
If you are one of the winners please emails us at contact(dot)imaginisce(at)gmail(dot)com. Be sure to put in the subject line which giveaway you won and send us your mailing address. Thanks!!

Guest Blog Post: Some Rockin' Fun!!

Hi there!!!
This is Cari posting and I'm thrilled to be guest blogging today.

I've got some fun projects to share that I created with one of my new favorite tools - the i-rock tool!!! I LOVE this thing!

I experimented with this tool a little bit as I was curious to see how it worked on other items besides paper (even though I love using it on my layouts! ).

My first little project was to add a bit of bling to a small glass vase. Yes, I said GLASS! It works great but you do have to be patient and keep the tool on the crystals for a while 'til they set.

These are the tools that I used for this project. My i-rock, the compact with the clear, pink & black crystals, the flower stencil , and a glass vase that I bought at the dollar store.

I then placed the stencil on the vase where I wanted it (you may want to use a bit of masking tape or some kind of adhesive to hold it in place) and carefully placed the crystals in the holes of the stencil. As you can see I didn't use the entire stencil design ... just the inside of the flower (circle shape).

I added a few small black ones in a circle around the pink crystals to finish it off.

Another fun project to use the i-rock on is fabric - like t-shirts, aprons, skirts, tote bags, etc. My daughter had a t-shirt that had this cute little floral design on it. Well, the Glam Rocks and Crystals that I had matched the design perfectly.

T-shirt BEFORE

T-shirt AFTER
(yes! My daughter was pretty excited to model this one!)

And now my favorite way to use the i-rock tool is on my layouts. I love the various ways it can add interest to my pages. On this layout I used the glam rocks around the corner of the patterned paper as a border.

The i-rock is also a great way to dress up punched borders as seen here. I also used the i-top tool for the center of my flowers.

Here is the finished layout. I used Splash Dance collection for this page.

I hope I have inspired you to try different things with your i-rock tool. Have fun and please make sure you share with us what you've created because we love to see what our Imaginisce fans do with our products!

Dictionary Flowers & My Itop

This card turned out perfect! It's created with two papers from the Polar Expressions Collection (Frosted Forest and Flannel PJs) and one of my new "dictionary flowers" with a felt covered iTop Brad.

Now about the Dictionary Flowers: One day I happened upon a great blog post from Leah Fung from Scrapbooks, Etc magazine and she showed you in a video how to make these yummy dictionary paper flowers. So last weekend I met up with a friend and we went CRAZY making tons of these flowers in all shapes and sizes. Below I listed some tips that I learned from playing.
TIP #1 - Dictionary paper works best, it's not too think and not too thin. I just went to the local thrift shop (D.I) and I bet some of those used book shops would be a good place to look. Plus it was only $3...and it will make TONS of flowers.

TIP #2 - In the video they top off the flowers with other paper flowers and buttons, but I have to admit that I think the iTop Brads really finish off these flowers so much better. I would suggest poking the ned of your scissors through the center before it dries completely...the glue may not have set all the way and it's a little thick, but you can push through and make a nice small hole that you can slide your iTop brad through the hole.

TIP #3 - This process is messy but super fun. I used both spray mists from Tattered Angels and Maya Mists...they both work great.

TIP #4 - Don't worry about die cutting the flowers. I just folded it like I would if I were cutting out a snowflake and then used my scallop scissors to cut off the top. Since you crinkle these up they don't have to be perfect to begin with!!
