May Guest Designer - Day 1 & Giveaway

We are thrilled to have a very talented scrapbooker joining us this
month as Guest Designer.

Please help us in welcoming ...

"Born in raised in the town I still live in I am a 40 something scrapper who still feels like I am in my 20’s! I have two boys (Max, 14 and Harrison, 9) who are my main scrapping inspiration! I love photography and have been having fun with Adobe actions and playing with my photos.

I have been scrapping close to 12 years and have evolved my style somewhat but have remained pretty true to myself.

I have been on several design teams over the years but am currently enjoying scrapping as a hobby – although I do still submit to the magazines and enjoy seeing my work in print."

*******

We asked Sarah a few questions to help us get to know her even better.

Q: Favorite TV shows?
A: Biggest Loser, Coming Home, Chopped, Restaurant Impossible, Dance Moms

Q: Diet or Regular?
A: Diet Pepsi/Regular Coke

Q: If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
A: I truly love it where I am. Small town, close to family and great friends!

Q: How did you get into scrapbooking? Describe your style.
A: It all started with a Creative Memories beginning scrapbooking class at least 12 years ago. From that day on I was hooked! My style has changed over the last 12 years and today I would be considered a 'simple' scrapper. I use a lot of neutral cardstock backgrounds, sewing and simple embellishments.

Q: Where do you like to create?
A: I have a big scrapping desk in my bedroom but prefer to scrap sitting on the floor in front of the TV in the family room! I have probably only been to a "crop" 3 times in all the years I have been scrapping. I do like to do it at home so I have all my supplies (and sewing machine) close on hand.

*******

We gave Sarah the new Hello Cupcake collection to play with.
(We will be having a release party for this in a couple of weeks so make sure to join us as the Design Team has been working hard on their creations!)

Here's what Sarah created!

"Horray"

I love these pictures of our good friends little boy at his first birthday party. He was a little unsure of all the attention and noise but looked so adorable in his birthday crown. I knew the Imaginisce "Hello Cupcake" line would be perfect for scrapping these pictures from his day!

  • I started with a brown/white cardstock background.
  • I cut different size strips of paper from the Imaginisce "Hello Cupcake" line (Birthday Horray, Let's Party, and Party Time) and included the "Hooray" title from the "Wish Come True" die cut pack. I sewed the strips across the top of my page.
  • Using a small hole punch I created confetti by punching the colored circles out of the Party Time paper and sprinkling them across the page.
  • I added two 2x3 pictures under my title and cut strips of paper. I also cut a strip of the orange paper from the Birthday Hooray paper and added it under my pictures.
  • Last I added computer journaling that I printed off from the computer and sewed down.
Supplies used: Imaginisce (Hello Cupcake collection: Let’s Party 12x12 paper, Birthday Hooray 12x12 paper, Party Time 12x12 paper, Wish Come True Die Cuts)

"Make a Wish"

My son recently turned 14 and we make a really big deal about having a birthday cake, singing two birthday songs, and blowing out the candles! We also have number candles that represent the age as well! Fun traditions are definitely worthy of scrapping. Of course the "Hello Cupcake" line was perfect to use!
  • I started with a kraft/white background.
  • My starting point was cutting a strip of green from the Birthday Hooray paper and centering it near the top of my page and sewing it down.
  • I then added two 2x3 pictures, slightly staggered.
  • I pop dotted the "Make a Wish" title from the "Wish Come True" die cut pack under the first picture.
  • I then cut several strips of pattern paper from the "Hello Cupcake" line (Cheers, Let's Party and Party Time). After shaping the strips into a banner look I adhered them under my pictures and title, placing the smallest strip over the bigger two and sewing down.
  • I pop dotted the smiling candle from the "Wish Come True" die cut pack over the "I" in my title.
  • Lastly I hand cut a large photo corner from the Wish Big piece of paper and sewed it down on the top right corner of my layout.
  • Lastly I added my journaling strips and date and added some spatters of white paint on the edges of my layout and over some of the pattern paper pieces.
Supplies used: Imaginisce (Hello Cupcake collection: Let's Party, Birthday Hooray, Cheers, Party Time, Wish Big, Wish Come True die cuts)

It was fun to see the contrast between the first birthday LO and the 14th! I'm always surprised at how many people get their intro to scrapping from CM, I know I did.

Both layouts are so inspiring. They look so colorful and festive and don't seem like they took a lot of time nor materials to make. I gives me hope.
