Together

We've got another fabulous layout to share with you today designed by DT member Monique Liedtke.  She shares some tips on some of our tools as well.

In case you missed it - we have a Sketch Challenge happening this month.  The details are posted HERE and we'd love to see your 'takes' on this fabulous sketch.

Hi everyone! For the month of March we're all using design team member Suzanna Lee's sketch and what a fun one it is! Here's my take on it: I scrapped photos of my husband and my oldest son, spending some quality time together. For this layout I used the Welcome Spring collection as well as a few other pieces.

I'm still over the moon happy with all the tools Imaginisce has given us to work with. For this layout for instance, I used the "i-Score & Pierce" tool:

The "i-Score & Pierce" tool is a super handy tool!! It's a pen that has four tools all in one! Tips include one 1mm piercing tip, one 4mm piercing tip, one 1.5mm embossing tip and one 2.0mm tip. The tool has an easy push button option to quickly and easily switch over to the other tips.

And now a few more close-ups of my page: love using old book pages on my layouts!

I couldn't resist adding the little penguin sticker from the Family Fun collection:

And this is the sketch we're using this month: we would love to see what you can do with it!! If you give it a try too, then don't forget to share it with us on our Facebook page

Supply list:
Imaginisce - Welcome Spring (patterned paper, buttons, die-cut journaling tags), Perfect Vacation (cardstock die-cuts), Family Fun (stickers), i-Score & Pierce.
Bazzill Basics - Cardstock
Other: Silhouette Cameo, 17turtles cut file, Scraptastic Club stamp, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

Thank you so much for visiting our blog today!

Go Cart Fun!

So have you had a chance to see our Sketch Challenge this month?  If you missed it the details on HERE on this post.

Today Marcia shares her take on the sketch.

'Go Kart Fun!'
There seems to be no end to all the kinds of family activities that can be scrapped with the Family Fun collection! Today, I have another layout to share using the B sides of the papers. I was inspired by the black and white checkerboard paper. I immediately thought, that would be great paper for my son's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby pictures, but then remembered I had Go Kart pictures from a trip to Wisconsin Dells.

I loved Suzanna's sketch, but felt like I needed more white space to suit my style. This is where a sketch sometimes makes you think outside of the box. I decided to doodle along my layout edges. This allowed me to stay true to the sketch. I settled on some straight lines interspersed with the word 'VROOM'. I am quite happy with the result. I may have to doodle on my layouts more often.

I also used my Imaginisce i-Top tool to create some custom brads for my layout. The i-Top is a great way to add some dimension. Here is my layout.

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers (Family Fun), I-Top, small and medium Brad Daddies, small and medium I-Top punches, Red Foam Alphabet Thickers, Foam Adhesive
American Crafts: Cardstock, Slick Writer (black)

Sketch:
Remember the saying "the chicken before the egg or the egg before the chicken"? That's along the lines of what I often wonder about sketches: "layout based on the sketch or the sketch based on the layout"? With regards to today's sketch the answer is sketch based on the layout. All of my sketches evolve from completed layouts. There are elements on the layout that are not on the sketch and that's okay. I don't want people to feel restricted by what they can or cannot have on their layouts. As always, sketches are open to interpretation.

Suzanna's Layout:
This layout is driven by the color combinations. I don't know what it is but the teal, red and black with the touch of orange really appeal to me. That touch of orange just pops the bowling ball that my daughter is holding.

For the title of the layout I tried to mimic the retro "bowl" sign that is on the background paper. It's not quite the same but the general idea is there with the rectangle tiles and a letter per tile. It was easy to do with scraps of paper. I just fussy cut the white cardstock around the foam letters that came with the Family Fun collection.

The buttons with the holes reminded me of bowling balls so of course those had to go on the layout as well. I don't know that I would recommend bowling with them, the fourth finger hole might add an interesting twist to the game!

Supplies
Patterned paper, buttons, letter stickers, stickers and dimensional stickers; Family Fun

Check out the adorable mitten banners on the sketch and this layout by Liz Qualman.

Liz combined Cottage Christmas papers and embellishments with the mitten Snag 'Em stamp and rub-ons from Polar Expressions to create this warming layout.  Both collection mix n' match perfectly.
The mitten stamp from Polar Expressions was perfect for fussy cutting, inking and then adding a few pop dots to make them stand out on the page.  Liz also used a white gel pen to draw the strings.
The acrylic Snowflakes included in the Cottage Christmas collection are a great embellishment for adding some flair and bling to a project.  Then just add a metal Snowflake Glitz for some extra sparkle.

Would you like to win now? Just HOP ON OVER to the following Design Team blogs to see what they did with the sketch. Remember, leave one comment on as many of the blogs (and ours) as you like and you'll have multiple chances to win a prize package of Imaginisce goodies. We'll announce the winner on DECEMBER 6th.
