Shaped Cards - Day 5

Well, we've reached the final day of our Shaped Card Inspiration and hope you've enjoyed it!!
We have one more designer sharing her work with you today.

Flip Flop Card

I always think there is something extra special for someone when they get something that's a little quirky or unusual, so I love making shaped cards. For my summertime shape, I decided to create a little flip flop card. I simply trimmed a shape from the colorful patterned paper from the Childhood Memories collection (I also created a matching brad for the Bitty Blossom flower with my trusty i-Top!) I had some perfect "ready-made" straps made from trimming the striped patterned paper from the Endless Summer collection, which also gave me my chipboard sentiment!

Shaped Cards - Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of our Shaped Card Inspiration.

We hope that you've been inspired by the cards this past week to try something different.

TIP:

  • If you don't any kind of die-cutting machine you could always use a pre-cut die-cut image and trace it onto some cardstock.
  • Then flip the image over (creating a mirrored image) and trace again.
  • Make sure that when you flip the image over that the top or side edge lines up with the 1st image that you traced (this will be your FOLD line).
  • When you cut the image out you will not cut on the FOLD line.

Let's see what creative cards we have to share with you today.

For this card I used the Outdoor Adventure collection, as the warm colors of this collection were just perfect for the card I had in mind. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the shape of this card. Actually, I cut the shape twice (one mirrored) and stitched them together. So on the back of the card there's lots of space to write your message.

Supplies: Imaginisce (Outdoor Adventure: patterned paper). Tools: Silhouette Cameo and shape design (sunset) by Loni Stevens, sentiment design by Samantha Walker.

I loved this fun challenge!  I made a fun birthday card in the shape of a camera.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the shape and then I got to use all sorts of fun papers from Imaginisce.  I used papers from  the Childhood Memories and Good Dog collections.  I love how well the two collections work together.

Shaped Cards - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of our Shaped Card Inspiration.

We have another day lined up with some super fun shapes. These gals just blow my mind with the things they come up with!

Discover Adventure Cards

I had so much fun playing with the Imaginisce Silhouette files for these cards, I used the compass and tent files and cut them out using the Outdoor Adventure collection.  For the compass I cut out the outline shape twice and used my I-top and added a brad to the top to hold the card closed.  For the tent card I cut the tent shape twice and glued the very top of the two pieces together.

Supplies: Patterned Paper and stickers - Imaginisce Outdoor Adventure Collection, I-Top, Small I-Top punch, Small I-Top Brad Daddies, Cardstock – Bazzill, Die Cut Machine – Silhouette, Files – Compass and Tent, Pen – Zig

"Come Sail Away"

Why give a square card when you can give a shaped one! Using a sailboat image from the Silhouette store, I adjusted the file to make it a card instead of just pieces of a sailboat. Die cuts from the Endless Summer collection add color and whimsy to the otherwise flat card.

Supplies: Imaginsice (Good Dog pattern paper, Endless Summer die cuts, 3-D stickers), Fiskars (wave border punch), Kelly Purkey (sentiment stamp), Silhouette (Cameo and digital cut file), Tombow (dots roller adhesive), black ink

Thanks for joining us today & we hope to you'll stop by again tomorrow.

Shaped Cards - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of our Shaped Card Inspiration.

We've got some more fabulous designs to share with you so let's get started.

A 'Tree-riffic' Card!

I love a good challenge and since I am not overly confident in my card making, creating a shaped card was defiantly a challenge!  Its good to be pushed out of your comfort zone, I love my little tree card!

I cut the card shape from with my Cameo using a verity of papers from the Childhood Memories and Good Dog collections.  Once the card cut and assembled I added the hot rocks to make it an apple tree!  This card was very quick and easy to make!  Challenge yourself to create a shaped card!

Supplies - Imaginisce - Paper:  Childhood Memories, Good Dog, Stickers : Childhood memories
Tools: i-Rock, Hot Rocks Compact, i- Rock LED lighted tweezers

"It's Your Bird Day"

Did you know that there are Imaginisce cut files and print and cut files available in the Silhouette on-line store? When I saw the Imaginisce bird from the Love You More collection I knew it would make an awesome shaped card. I used the Love you More papers. The pinks with the grey are an amazing combination. Those I-Rock gems are perfect for eyes.

Supplies:
Imaginisce: Love You More: Patterned Paper; I-Rock tool; Hot Rocks gems; Imaginisce bird cut file from the Silhouette one-line store.
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalk ink in Coal Miner; Ranger Distress Ink in Tattered Rose; Silhouette Cameo die cut machine

We'll be back tomorrow with some creative looking cards!

Shaped Cards - Day 1

Good morning.

We've got a fun week of projects to share.  It's all about your SHAPE!

Shaped Cards, that is.

When you think of making cards is a normal tendancy to create ones that are square, rectangle or perhaps even tall ones and circular cards.
But we challenged a few of our Designers to come up with some unique & out-of-the box shapes and designs.  And they went over & above with their cards!!!!

Shapes have become much easier to create because of all the die-cut and electronic cutting machines that are available to the consumer now.  This makes creating so much fun as well.

Today we have designer
sharing a super fun card with us.

Ah! Summer! Time to break out the grill the picnic basket! With so many summer parties on the books {from BBQ's to fun play dates to girls' night out}, I thought it would be fun to have a special invitation to invite friend's to a summer party.

Summer parties and watermelon are synonymous to me thus, it was only fitting that a watermelon be the shape of my card. My dilemma of not wanting to cover the whole watermelon with the wording of the invite were easily solved with a mini-banner flying from skewer sticks attached to the back of the card.

I hope your summer is full of parties and watermelon!
